Hello everyone. This is a location that Todd ‪@ThirdHandle‬ and I have been talking about for a while. This is a long abandoned railroad siding in the borough of Schuylkill Haven. This branched off the Philadelphia and Reading mainline that ran through the borough on its way to Pottsville PA. What is really interesting is the Schuylkill Navigation System or Schuylkill Canal was operating here years before the Philadelphia and Reading came through. For a brief period the P&R and the Schuylkill Canal worked in tandem. There were large coal dumps along the route and we are thinking this was one of them. Looking at an old map of the canal it really appears it flowed right in the area we are standing. This location will definitely have a return visit. Thank you for watching. 2/8/25
