Second Annual Conference: Infrastructures of (Non-)Knowledge (9–11 October 2024) Heidrun Allert: Data is transgression At the 2nd annual conference »Infrastructures of (Non-)Knowledge«, the Collaborative Research Centre »Virtual Lifeworlds« at the Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, examined the relationship between knowledge on the one hand and infrastructures and technologies on the other. The aim was not only to address questions about the structural constitution of knowledge, but also about its different constitutive conditions through infrastructures and respective technologies, as well as the relevance of digital platforms and archives. In a first step, the question of how and as what knowledge can be (or has been) understood, if it is no longer to be understood representationally as »true justified conviction« (Plato), takes center stage both theoretically and historically. Even the question of the relationship between knowledge and ignorance, which is constitutive of knowledge, undermines the classical problem, because the two – knowledge and ignorance – cannot simply be juxtaposed (almost in terms of set theory), but must be structurally linked.
