We made a beautiful film capturing some of the activity over the previous two years here at The Vale, funded by Paul Hamlyn Foundation. The Foundation’s support offered The Vale a chance to develop a diverse and exciting programme to widen access and build participation. This includes a regular monthly live music programme, bringing an array of amazing artists from the UK and all over the world, some in response to consultation with some community groups asking them what they'd like to see. We also worked with local community/cultural leaders to co-create work that celebrated the diverse heritage in Tameside and provide those groups a chance to co-design and create their own projects. In addition, the fund supported free community events, including our both our Birthday Bashes, Trails to The Vale, and Spring Up events. The funding also allowed us to offer some donate what you can tickets so The Vale is a place that everyone feels they can belong to and benefit from. “I see my heritage in this piece, everyone involved with the project, feels this. I feel my story, I feel my background and it’s there. I get a point back to my country, my ancestors." (Participant, African Heritage & Art Centre).
