Tackling cargo crime in Sweden

Public-private partnerships have already been effective in helping to combat the rising threat of cargo crime and its broader impact on economies, businesses and consumers. This session profiles one of the latest examples of this type of cooperation and focusses on efforts to address the threat to the trucking industry in Sweden, where the Swedish Association of Road Transport Companies, the Swedish Police and the Swedish Insurance industry (Larmtjänst) has started a road intelligence collaboration with the goal of reducing crime and, thereby, improving the safety and wellbeing of all road users. Per will discuss the project, its progress and initiatives, including the launch of a ‘tip phone’ service to make it easier for drivers to report suspected crimes that are seen along the roads.
