We just spent an amazing few days in Port Barton, Palawan — one of the most underrated beach towns in the Philippines and a must-visit stop before heading to El Nido. If you’re planning your Palawan itinerary, this peaceful coastal town offers the perfect mix of relaxation, nature, and local charm. We flew into Puerto Princesa Airport and took a minivan transfer to Port Barton, where we stayed a few nights surrounded by beautiful beaches and island vibes. We joined one of the popular Port Barton island hopping tours, swam with a sea turtle, snorkeled vibrant coral reefs, and visited White Beach — often named one of the best beaches in Palawan. Port Barton is ideal for travelers looking to escape the crowds and experience a more authentic side of the Philippines. There are chilled-out beach bars, great local food, and even some backpacker parties if you’re in the mood for social vibes. We stayed at Theresa’s Guest House, our cheapest but most heartwarming accommodation in the Philippines so far — super clean, cozy, and run by the loveliest local family. This is the perfect spot for island life, budget travel, and hidden gems in Palawan.
