In today’s episode, we’re talking about Karaoke & Confidence: The Voice as Movement. Because your voice isn’t separate from your body. It’s breath control. It’s posture. It’s core engagement. And like any other movement skill, it can be trained. Singing can be a powerful tool for stress relief. It forces you to breathe deeply. It engages your diaphragm. It activates your core. It demands presence. And when done recreationally, whether at karaoke, in your car, or in the shower, it becomes a powerful lifestyle practice. Today, I’m joined by voice coach Chan Wannapat, a singer and performer from Thailand. Chan is a recent Fulbright Scholar and graduate of Arizona State University, where she earned her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance. She has performed professionally in musical theater in Thailand and is widely recognized as the Thai-language voice of Maribel in Disney’s Encanto. She is currently based in New York as an intern with the Thai Theater Foundation and works as a dedicated voice teacher, helping singers develop technique, confidence, and control. Together, we dive into whether someone can truly get better at singing, what components matter most, effective exercises to practice, and how to quiet distractions and stay present.
