Omoya was driving from the barracks 4 miles outside Mbarara taking Lance Corporal Tulio Lam to Mbarara hospital. A truck hit the car and Omoya was seriously wounded but was not dead. He spent three days in Mbarara Hospital without and any critical care provision and died. In 1969 Lance Corporal Tulio Lam who was the passenger in the car Omoya was driving was poisoned with methanol (industrial alcohol) which looks like Uganda waragi.
