BECOME A CHANNEL MEMBER: / @aviationvideography Welcome to the first 4-hour installment of our Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) plane spotting trip, filmed during the summer of 2024. In this video, we’re taking you to some of the best spots around the airport. You’ll see a mixed bag of runway operations but most notably, you'll see footage of close up landings on the new runway that has just opened and arguably has the best view for plane spotters, runway 01/19. Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is the busiest airport in Thailand and is located just 25 kilometers east of downtown Bangkok. This airport plays a crucial role in connecting Thailand to the world, particularly in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. The airport has two main terminals: Terminal 1 for international flights and Terminal 2 for domestic flights. BKK also boasts 3 nearly parallel runways, 20R/02L, 20L/02R and the new 01/19, that handle a vast range of air traffic. With millions of passengers passing through every year, it’s one of the busiest airports in Southeast Asia, always buzzing with activity, especially during peak hours. Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, and Thai AirAsia are the primary airlines at Suvarnabhumi, but the airport also welcomes many international carriers like Emirates, Qatar Airways, and even some exotic airlines like Turkmenistan Airlines, Aircalin, and even Vietravel Airlines! You’ll find a diverse range of aircraft from around the world here, making it a fascinating spot for plane enthusiasts. As of 2024, Suvarnabhumi Airport ranked as the worlds 21st busiest airport and only set to rise higher in the ranks with the new runway and terminal that has just opened up, allowing for more airlines to fly there and more passengers to use the facility! Some of this trip was filmed with my good mate Matt from @HDMelbourneAviation when we visited BKK together. Matt even managed to do a livestream during our visit which is worth a watch!
