*Update JANUARY 2025, the Silverstreet Thunderbolt 1003 was moved to the county's storage, apparently the reinstallation project fell through. Unfortunately, the county has currently no plans for the Silverstreet Thunderbolt to be reinstalled. Previous update from 2024: The Silverstreet 1003 had went through refurbishment process, it was just finished. But unfortunately, this siren still hasn't been reinstalled and there is currently no estimated date for this siren to be reinstalled. It was originally anticipated to be reinstalled back spring 2024. Previous update from 2023: This siren was removed and was taken to the repair shop for repairs to the siren. The chopper motor is dead. County plans to reinstall this siren by spring 2024. I repeat, this siren will be reinstalled next year. I do not make any money from my videos I post on my YouTube channel. Filmed on December 28, 2013 (on my birthday!). "Weekly full test" of the Newberry County siren system. This siren was tested every Saturday at 12:00pm EST in "Hi-Lo (Fire)" Signal (now tested at the last Saturday of the month at noon). This siren was installed in 1963. This siren is used for tornado warnings, and other emergencies. Me and Brendan Williamson both filmed this siren together! Notice after the blower cuts off during the wind down, you can hear Brendan saying "Oh man that was amazing!" The reason why I went back to record this siren the third time because I wanted to hear this siren go off on my birthday and other reason! This siren is located in Silverstreet, SC at Silverstreet fire department off of Main Street. I was set up at a park with Brendan about 150 feet away from this siren.
