[4K] Huaxi (Snake Alley) & Guangzhou Street Food Night Market Taipei Taiwan 2024 Walking Tour Vlog

Exploring Huaxi Street and Guangzhou Street night market around Longshan Temple in Wanhua District, Taipei, Taiwan. Huaxi Street (華西街夜市), often referred to as 'Snake Alley', is a historical and cultural landmark in Taipei. This market, established in the 1950s, has a rich history and has evolved from a red-light district to a tourist destination famous for its traditional Taiwanese cuisine and exotic foods, including snake-based dishes. Originally, Huaxi Street was known for its traditional Chinese medicine shops and snake vendors, which led to its nickname, Snake Alley. The area was also infamous as a red-light district until the 1990s when the Taiwanese government outlawed prostitution. Over time, the government banned public snake performances and slaughter to adhere to Taiwan's Animal Protection Act and address animal welfare concerns. Guangzhou Street (廣州街觀光夜市) or MonGa Street (艋舺夜市), is known for its vibrant night market that stretches over a 150-meter-long area. Visitors can explore authentic Taiwanese culture with a plethora of food stalls and traditional goods. Longshan Temple (艋舺龍山寺) was originally built in 1738 by settlers from Fujian. It has withstood the test of time, surviving natural disasters, wars, and urban development. This temple is a unique blend of Taoist, Buddhist, and Confucian worship, reflecting Taiwan's inclusive approach to religion. The temple's history is marked by community-driven restoration efforts, particularly after a destruction in WWII, which speaks volumes about the locals' dedication to preserving their cultural heritage. ℹ️ To Learn More about Taiwan, Please visit: ‪@TrendingTaiwan‬ ‪@TAD.Taiwan‬ ‪@anytimefortaiwan‬ 🎧 This video contains Binaural Audio.
