In Episode 3 of our journey to restore the classic 1936 Bertham Gauntlet ocean-going yacht Syrinx we rejoin Rich and meet his son Ronan as they start to work on creating a wonderful little “Boatyard in the Woods” to serve as the future home of this ambitious project. As is often the case with truly meaningful pursuits, unforeseen challenges arise and must be dealt with. These include complications with tree removal, heavy equipment woes, bouts with perfectionism, and newly crafted state laws that complicate the transfer of older and larger vessels holding the potential to create environmental hazards. Hey, nobody ever said working on wooden boats was going to be easy, but it is indeed interesting. Come on along!
