We’re back in the Lake District… and this time we’re staying overnight in a hidden miners’ bothy built for the old slate mines ⛰️🔥 After a freezing hammock camp in the woods, we head up through Honister Pass in search of a historic quarry refuge maintained by the Mountain Bothies Association. Built in the 1750s for slate miners, this little stone shelter blends perfectly into the fells. Expect: • A winter hike through the fells • Proper Lake District mountain views (Buttermere & Haystacks looking unreal) • A tour of the bothy • Campfire cooking & questionable beer reviews • Ghost stories • Mice. Definitely mice This isn’t a hardcore survival trip - just three mates, a historic shelter, good food, a roaring fire, and plenty of laughs in the wild. Please remember, if you visit a bothy, leave it better than you found it.
