Welcome to the Women’s Month edition of #60SecondArt – women talking about women. Listen to Norval Foundation's Curatorial and Collections Assistant Talia Naicker discussing "Landscape: A View of African Rural Life" by Mmagabo Mapula Helen Sebidi. Here we see Sebidi’s love for rural South African landscapes and painting open spaces. It is often in these spaces where she explores the theme of trauma experienced by Black people and people of colour who were uprooted from their homes due to the Group Areas Act of apartheid. We’re sharing live art stories in 60 seconds with #60SecondArt – we’ll be posting an image of an artwork from the Homestead Art Collection or from what’s on display, with a voiceover by curators, artists or colleagues based at Norval Foundation and invited. 🎨: Mmagabo Mapula Helen Sebidi, Landscape: A View of African Rural Life, 1979, Oil on canvas #60SecondArt #MuseumFromHome #HelenSebidi #NorvalFoundation #Education #ContemporaryArt #ArtHistory #ArtEducation
