We head on over to the Rhine area to visit the eccentric city of Basel for the second stop on the tour! It was there where I would catch the epic match between FC Basel 1893 and visitors, FC Sion in the biggest footy stadium in the country, St. Jakob-Park. Unlike Zurich, which was full of enchantment and history, Basel had its own type of special flare as it felt both cultural and progressive. It started off as a beautiful sunny day and I decided to explore the city per usual. It was fascinating to have to cross through the station in order to get to the other side. It was a Sunday, so it was a bit quiet, but still with a lot to see, do, and feel. I had a nice stroll before stumbling across a doner shop, which would make a tasty place for lunch. I got to see the Basel Munster in old town before heading to the Kunstmuseum, which I would spend most of my time at before finally heading to the stadium. A quick tram ride brought me right to the front of, well, what seemed to be the stadium. At first, I wasn't too sure because it appeared to be some type of commercial building, but it turned out to be like attached to the stadium or something. I had my skepticism, but I carried on and made it inside, and well, it was absolutely incredible! Don't judge a book by its cover! Shortly after a quick beer purchase, I found my seat and was greeted by the thunderous chants of the ultras. I already knew this match was going to be a good one! Indeed, it was! A very competitive 1st half slowly, like the weather, progressed into a one-sided affair. It would rain goals on Sion FC. Shaquiri had an amazing performance. Oh yeah, he's no longer at Chicago! The match would end 4-1, in favor of the hosts. All in all, I had an amazing time! A lot better outing than the last, in terms of goals. Thanks for tuning in! I hope you enjoy the latest episode!
