Why do we still work so much? Automation, AI, and all kinds of new technologies make us more efficient than we ever could have imagined. Yet it seems like we work more today than ever before. Our current economic system is driven by consumption and production. The goal: consistent growth. But to what end? Up to a certain point, growth is certainly good and even necessary, but once all our needs are met and we seek growth merely for growth's sake it becomes problematic. We sacrifice our health, our mental well-being, and our planet for an economic system that has outlived its usefulness. But as individuals, we can choose a different path.
