Fei Long is one of the most well-rounded characters throughout all of SF4's iterations. His normal attacks are mostly the same, and function mostly the same. The main difference is he was given 2 new special moves, which increases his damage and conversion potential. In my opinion, Omega Fei Long is his best version yet, with very little drawback. -------------------------------- Basic Changes: c.LK has more pushback on hit. So Fei Long can't combo it into close HP anymore. This is one of the only drawbacks I know of. close LP has a lowered hitbox, making it hit smaller crouching characters, where in other versions, it'd just whiff on them. far MP is special cancelable now and links from close MP and c.MP. It whiffs on crouchers at a certain range. c.HP has reduced pushback on hit, and on counterhit, can be linked from. far HK is strange, because it has reduced pushback on hit, but it only hits standing characters, and can only be linked from on counterhit, on specific characters, at a close enough range. close MK hits twice now, and each hit is special cancelable. It can also be linked into from jab. The first hit can be used in specific juggles, and continue a juggle combo, but the 2nd hit will air reset. Far HP and close HK can be FADC'd, and linked from when done so on counterhit. close HK doesn't have a great hitbox, so it can whiff on crouchers, like far HK. -------------------------------- Special Move Changes: EX Rekkaken- Uses 1 stock of super meter per rekka, up to 3 bars. You can choose to do 2 bar (first 2 rekkas) or 1 bar versions of the EX rekka, and can finish the rekka series meterless. EX rekka can be used in certain juggles, and you can do a full rekka series in a juggle using only 1 bar. You can't alternate between EX and meterless, or vice-versa. And you can't do a normal rekka into EX. Rekkukyaku "Chicken wing"- Now done with HCF+K. All versions are drastically different from each other, and the move's previous design. Light travels a short distance, hits twice, and does a soft knockdown. This is a consistent meterless combo ender in certain juggles. M travels at a 45 degree angle upward, and is an optimal combo ender in certain juggles on certain characters, within a certain range. H is mostly the same version as before. EX doesn't go over crouching characters anymore, but doesn't go as far as previous versions, and combos more consistently from counterhit close HP and MP. EX Shienkyaku "flame kick" - seems to have more range than previous versions. If there is any difference from his normal Omega flame kicks, and previous versions, I couldn't tell. EX Tenshin throw - There is virtually no difference in this move compared to previous versions, aside from that glow after it lands. I think this is meant to be more of a guide to show how much frame advantage you have afterward, rather than allowing more frame advantage. This is different from Yun and Yang's EX Tenshins which don't show that glow after it connects. Fei Long's super hits fully, much more consistently in juggle combos. -------------------------------- New Moves: Shoenryu - Done with QCB+P, it's a fast "one inch punch" style move that causes a launch and can be linked into from certain normals. There is no difference between strengths in terms of damage or function. EX does the same damage, but it has further reach, and gives better frame advantage after launch. It can be FADC'd on the first hit, and breaks armor. Ryuogeki - Done with DP+P, it's a moderately fast single punch, that is better suited as a combo ender either in juggles, or if you're going for straight damage. Jab x3 into Light Ryuogeki actually does more damage than Jab x3 into Heavy Rekka x3. The EX version causes a wall splat which offers different combo routes depending on the character, and how close to the wall Fei Long is. It can be FADC'd and breaks armor. -------------------------------- Creator's Notes: I probably had twice as much footage for Fei Long than I ended up putting in this video. The main concern became more that I didn't want to be redundant with my footage, opposed to feeling like I didn't have enough footage. This video does have some repetition to it, but it shows that Omega Fei Long can get just a couple big changes, and it justifies showcasing all the different ways the changes can be applied, which naturally has a sense of repetition to this process. With that, I think repetition as a theme fits the personality of Fei Long, where repetitive training is essential to completion. -------------------------------- Thank you for watching!
