"Im Frühtau zu Berge" is the German version of a very well-known Swedish hiking song, "Vi gå över daggstänkta berg". (English: We Go Over the Mountains). The text of "Vi gå över daggstänkta berg" was created by the painter and poet Olof Thunman (1879-1944). This text was published in the humorous magazine Styx in 1906. It was published as a song in 1908 by Abraham Lundquist Verlag with the title Gångsång (Wanderlied). The melody is disputed as either from Hälsingland or Gästrikland as stipulated by Olof Thunman, or by the musician Edwin Ericson (1874-1968). In Germany, many songbooks wrongly attribute the words to Walther Hensel.
