The Glimmersea or Sea of Starry Night is a large body of water located in the Underdark 20 miles beneath the floor of the Sea of Fallen Stars in central Faerûn. Its name, "Sea of the Starry Night", is derived from the luminescent rocks found in the ceilings of the vaults of the Glimmersea. Glowing like stars and perfectly reflected in the still waters below, gives sailors the impression of sailing through a sea of stars. A number of powerful cities of aboleth sit in the depths of the Glimmersea, and many kuo-toa and sahuagin outposts are to be found in the shallows. Needless to say, these feared races keep adventurers at bay and the seemingly tranquil and smooth surface of the Glimmersea are seldom traversed by the ill-prepared.
