ಶ್ರೀ ಅರ್ಕೇಶ್ವರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ದೇವಾಲಯ (Arkeshwara Temple, Yadatore, K.R.Nagara) Krishnarajanagara is a town in Mysore district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Krishnarajanagara was founded between 1920s and 1930s as a new town, when a flood by river Kaveri damaged the nearby old town called Yedatore. The town was shifted to a place 4.5 km (3 miles) south and at a higher elevation, now called Krishnarajanagara. It was named after Krisharaja Wodeyar, the maharaja of Mysore This temple is dedicated to Arkeswara (Sun God) or Shiva. The temple was built on the banks of river Kaveri. This temple is affiliated to be built during the Dynastic rule of Kulottunga Chola I in Vesara style. The temple dates back at least to early 19th century rule of the Mysore Kingdom. The name Yedatore is derived from two Kannada language words, yeda (lit, "left") and tore (lit, "river") - a name that arises from the "bend to the left" made by the river at that spot which is considered sacred by Hindus. There are steps leading from the temple down to the bathing areas ("ghats") by the river.. The Ankakkarisvara temple, built by Ankakkaran, is in fact the Arkesvara temple. This large structure with a lofty lamp-post, gopura and a fine mantapa, is a small low -roofed temple bereft of a circumambulatory path The western shrines in the enclosure house the lingas The lings is of natural stone while the Sadasiva image is a metallic one. The 3′ high processional image like the 3%’ high image of goddess Meenakshi is a fine figure. Inside the shrine is a metallic Srichakra carved with a Kurma, diggajas, etc. The last shrine of the devi, in the prakara has a 2′ high-seated figure of Suryanarayana with a large nimbus at the back Before the navaranga stands a mukhamantapa of 9 ankanas. The lofty mahadvara is adorned with Gajalakshmi on the lintel. The 18th C. wooden ratha of the temple is exquisitely carved. There are 2 shrines dedicated to Vishnu called Kalimadava and Chandikesvara The bathing ghat to the north of the Arkesvara temple, in the shape of a paved platform extending to the river, is a fine structure. The ghat with a mantapa and an entrance has verandahs on either side Yedathore Arkeshwara Temple is 39kms from Mysore and 180 kms from Bangalore. KR Nagara tourism offers other places such as Chunchunkatte and Ballur katte. Mysore Tourism and Hassan tourism offers other nearby places of interest are Gorur Dam, Hemavathy reserviour, Sri Ramadevara katte, Chennakeshava Temple at Bherya, Arkeshwara Temple, Sanyasipura bridge, St. Anthony's Shrine - Dornahalli, Sagarakatte bridge, Brindavan Gardens, Yedmuri Falls, Hulikere tunnel, Hemavathy Dam , Shettihalli Church, Bisle Ghat or Bisle Reserve Forest, Veeranarayana Temple, Ramanathpura located on the banks of river Cauvery, this holy town has a number of revered temples including the famous Rameshwara temple, Mosale is famous for the Hoysala temples of Chennakeshava and Nageshwara.
