We share some of our best trail camera footage along with top tips for telling apart Yorkshire's deer species, giving you a closer look at the wild deer we've been filming in the North York Moors National Park. Yorkshire is home to three primary types of deer: red deer, roe deer, and fallow deer. Red and roe deer are native to Yorkshire, while fallow deer were introduced by the Normans in the 11th century and have been present for a long time. Muntjac deer are occasionally spotted in the southern part of the county, while Sika deer sightings are more common in the vicinity of the Yorkshire Dales. Both muntjac and sika deer were brought to Britain in the past 200 years. Chinese water deer are the only other species of deer in the UK, but they are not found in Yorkshire and are primarily located in the southeast of England.
