Pac‑Mania’s 1991 Domark release on the Acorn Archimedes was a refreshed issue of the original 1988 conversion, but presented with new branding and packaging that reflected how the UK games industry had evolved by the early ’90s. The game itself remained the same lively, isometric reinterpretation of Namco’s arcade title, powered by fast ARM‑native code and bright, smooth visuals that suited the Archimedes perfectly. Domark positioned this edition as a mainstream, family‑friendly title and often bundled it with A3000 and A5000 systems, which meant many schools and homes encountered Pac‑Mania through this very version. The credits on the title screen list the same core team—Shaun Hollingworth and Peter Harrap on ARM coding, Jason Wilson on graphics, and Ben Daglish on music—but the presentation and distribution were firmly aligned with Domark’s early‑’90s catalogue. The shift from Teque Software to Krisalis Software in the credits reflects a real‑world name change rather than a change in the development team. Teque Software Development Ltd., founded in 1987 by Tony Kavanagh, Peter Harrap, and Shaun Hollingworth, was the studio responsible for the original Archimedes version. Later that same year, the group created a publishing arm called Chrysalis Software, which soon evolved into Krisalis Software. By 1991, the Teque name had been retired and Krisalis became the unified brand for both development and publishing. That’s why the Domark edition’s title screen shows Krisalis—even though the underlying game was still the work of the original Teque team.
