Why I do this. I’m often asked a sincere and fair question: If you don’t believe in God or Jesus… If religion isn’t true to you… Why spend time challenging it at all? In this video, I answer that question honestly. Religion brings comfort, meaning, and community to millions of people — and I don’t deny that. But alongside those benefits, there is a darker side that deserves serious attention: fear, shame, and the moral condemnation of honest doubt. At the heart of this conversation is a simple but uncomfortable truth: belief is not a choice. You don’t decide what convinces you — yet many religious systems treat non-belief as a moral failure, sometimes even deserving eternal punishment. That has real consequences for real people. In this video, I talk about: Why belief isn’t something we choose Why punishing non-belief is morally incoherent How religious ideas can cause psychological harm even if the god behind them doesn’t exist Religious trauma and recovery Why I challenge ideas, not people Why all beliefs should be open to honest scrutiny If you’re a believer watching in good faith, you’re welcome here. If you’re questioning, deconstructing, or healing from fear or shame, you’re not broken — and you’re not alone. I’m not here to attack people. I’m here to challenge harmful ideas, defend intellectual honesty, and stand up for those who were taught to fear their own minds.
