Any version of the AMT 1939/1940 Ford Sedan model kit 2.) Fine tipped and medium tipped paint brushes 3.) Acrylic paint from the Citadel / Games Workshop product range. (We show you these colors in this video.) 4.) A bowl with water for thinning the paint and cleaning your brush 5.) A plate to use as a paint mixing palate 6.) 180 grade fine sandpaper preferably with a sticky backing 7.) A block of MDF 8.) Paper towel or a rag 9.) Hobby knife 10.) Side cutters 11.) A dust mask to protect your lungs from dust 12.) Primer Paint - I don't use it in the video, but suggest it. 13.) Testor's silver enamel paint or a chrome paint pen The first lesson of this video shows you the steps to follow to clean up your engine block and get it aligned. The second part of the video shows you how to apply the chrome pieces to the engine and what the engines look like once completed. The engine can be built one of two ways : 1.) The Tri-Carb engine 2.) The Hilborn fuel Injected engine with special timing chain cover Since the outside engine details didn't change much from 1949 - 1964, this model kit could be built and painted to represent the Oldsmobile 303, 324, 371 and 394 engines. Engine paint colors for the 303 and 324 was green, 375 was gold while the 394 engine was red. The 394 Oldsmobile engine was created in 1959 by boring out the 303, applying new cylinder heads, cam shaft and lifters. It was used in the larger Oldsmobile cars until the mid 1960's. All these engines were 394 Cubic Inches. The latter engines were known as "Sky Rockets".
