Tess Oldenburg, a junior forward at Etiwanda High in California, scored 13 points for the second-seeded Eagles in a 66-62 girls basketball setback against No. 3 Sierra Canyon School of California in the semifinals of the CIF-Southern Section Open Division playoffs. Oldenburg helped the Eagles rally from a 19-point halftime deficit to close to within two points late in the fourth quarter, but Etiwanda was unable to complete its comeback bid and had a 22-game winning streak snapped. The Eagles were seeking a fifth consecutive appearance in the Open Division final, but Sierra Canyon advanced to its fourth Open championship game in the past five seasons, with the Trailblazers competing Feb. 28 against top-seeded and Ontario Christian at the Toyota Arena in Ontario. The Knights won last year's Open title with a 65-63 victory against Etiwanda. Sierra Canyon is pursuing its first Open crown since 2023.
