Game Info --------------------------------------------------- Developer: OzzyOuzo, Johnny16bit Publisher: OzzyOuzo, Johnny16bit Year of Release: 2025 Download: https://ozzyouzo.itch.io/double-dragon Game Review & Impressions --------------------------------------------------- I spotted details of this game on one of the forums I frequent, and the concept of a new fan-inspired Double Dragon game for the Neo Geo of all things was an instant draw. This particular game appears to be a remix/emulation/port of Double Dragon for the obscure Zeebo console, released in 2009 for Brazilian and Mexican territories. The Zeebo version of Double Dragon was itself heavily inspired by Double Dragon Advance for the Game Boy Advance, a fantastic game in its own right. Despite the somewhat complicated and convoluted lineage, DD One operates in very much the same fashion as these earlier games. The graphics are based on the Zeebo sprite artwork, but have undergone a visual upgrade in the process, combing elements from the Double Dragon Advance and adding more detail in the process. The end result is a visual style that's much closer to those seen in SNK's King of Fighter games. The fusion of the artwork with contemporary belt-scrolling fighting mechanics works really well, and the Neo Geo hardware has the chops to pull it all off seamlessly. Overall, I thought was a great little title, and definitely worth the optional $10 "pay-what-you-want" donation towards the developer's efforts. The game can be downloaded for free, but tipping the folks who develop these games is always a great way to show appreciation for their hard work, not to mention incentivise them to work on similar projects in the future.
