My second day of the Lake George Speedsurfing- or Speed Sailing- season in South Australia, Thursday 29 Jan 2026. Wind was southerly, meaning swinging SSE to SSW but southerly; at 14knots after lunch up to 18kts, then 18 and gusting to 25kts maybe at the end. Also depending on which side of the lake you were on. I kept to the northern half, looking for flattish stuff towards the NE, with Pete and Glen, while the other two Darren (Dizzy) and Clive (evilC) had a great little speed sesh between (what I call) Packers and Five Mile on the SW side of the Golden Pond. Jealous. Tomorrow, will check it out if wind the same. Check out KA72. Today the gear was well suited or I was getting the hang of the 94L60w iSonic- 5.8m Koncept and 20cm Nuclear Weed fin. The same combo of the day before. Not overpowered, but certainly not at fitness peak to get better than nearly 27 knots in the not so glassy conditions, and just a coupla spinouts. I might try a smaller fin if conditions the same Saturday. The 6.6m might have been more useless as I don't have the long arms or weight.
