Peru & Bolivia | Backpacking South America

A few months ago my Family and I took on a summer in South America. getting out and seeing crazy landscapes, alpacas and experiencing strong culture is a rare combination. There was so many beautiful moments that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. The thing I loved about this trip was the amount of adventure and unpredictability. It wasn't always perfect, sometimes we had to hike when we couldn't walk anymore or wander the city looking for a place to stay. The ups and downs made things unique. There was something that I loved about packing everything i had on my back and hiking mountains with it. It was a refreshing change of pace. Especially wearing the same pair of pants everyday because I only brought one and wasn't expecting it to be freezing out. Overall, the 3 a.m wake ups and 50 km of hiking in Vans were all worth it. When we hit the final stretch and we raced up the mountain, while pouring rain in the middle of the night, to be the first to watch the the fog and mist roll over the Andes and uncover the lost city I had anticipated all these years. It was a magical moment that had me pacing back and forth trying to figure out how I could capture and preserve such a beautiful thing. It had been a dream of mine since I was in grade three when I learned about Machu Picchu at school.
