Do you stop every time you make a mistake in your music practice? It’s a common habit for musicians, but it can make practicing stressful and even increase performance anxiety. In today’s video, I’ll show you a simple exercise (originally taught to kids with candy!) that helps you practice playing through mistakes without stopping. You’ll learn how to adapt this for your own music practice so you can feel more confident and secure, whether you’re rehearsing at home or preparing for performance. You’ll also get a relaxation exercise at the end to help release tension and feel calmer about mistakes in your music. ⏱️ Timestamps 00:00 Why we stop after mistakes in practice 01:06 The “three times perfect” candy exercise explained 02:44 Why perfection isn’t the goal (fragility theme) 03:53 The “three times no stopping” exercise for musicians 05:08 How this connects to performance anxiety 06:13 Nut version vs candy version (and why it works) 06:17 Guided relaxation exercise for musicians 🕸️ Watch all the “Fragility” videos here: • A week of Fragility 🎶 About this channel I’m Erica Bramham — a professional musician, teacher, and composer.
