Who reads this shiznap??? I thought we were chatting about electronics, sonics and the beat of a new day?! Well we are, and an old day and an old way, Yah Wei💯… Ok all seriousness aside, Today I’m talking about my new toy, a JBL 175 Midrange Horn Driver. I wanted a 16 Ohm driver, but found this dirty 8 Ohm Beast🔥down the street in Ventucky and she was cheap so… I acquired an 8 ohm knowing I was going to do a complete teardown and rebuild as a 16 Ohm to match the other 16 Ohm drivers in this build. What build? Oh yea, we are modifying a 1954 Klipsch / 3 Horn / Monophonic System, for my shop HiFi… This Horn lived in the rafters of the ASU (Arizona State University) Basket Ball Gymnasium from 1954 until 1974 when the public address system was changed out. An ASU professor dumpster dove this and other speakers into his home until he died around 1994 when his estate sold it to me. When I took it to my Mill Hill Creations shop in Phoenix , my in-house wood worker guy said “that has to be the ugliest speaker I have ever seen”… ( it was a weird brown grey mottled, almost death warmed over Purple’ish?!) with two Amber colored Horns on Top…. I asked what could we do to the cosmetics as I didn’t have time to start an electronic rebuild, due to the impending NAMM Trade show that was fast arriving! Boom life happened and now it’s 27 year later and I am now doing the @_Jolly_69_Roger_ Klipsch rebuild with JBL drivers and .999 solid silver wire. Well you should just watch the video and know it all works out! Jonathan
