A Quiet Weekend That Changed How I See Everything

Welcome back to Living My Weekends — a real, unfiltered look at how I spend my days when life is full but still moving at my own pace. In this episode, we start the weekend early with a work-from-home Friday. I log in, make a hearty breakfast bowl, and jump straight into my Friday reset — washing sheets, tackling laundry, and slowly setting the tone for the weekend while still powering through my 9–5. Later in the afternoon, we take breaks between meetings to keep things moving around the house, prep dinner, and finally start on Jalynn’s hair, which is always a full event when she comes home from school. Between deep conditioning, movie time, and dinner, the night stretches on — and by the time her hair is finished, I am completely done for the day. Saturday is slower and quieter. I sleep in, make my bed, and continue cleaning out and organizing my closet — something I always do when I need mental clarity. We pause for chili and crackers while watching Ocean’s 8, and the rest of the day is filled with laundry, light organizing, and resting my body and mind. Sunday morning comes quickly as we get ready to take Jalynn back to school. After dropping her off, I share a very honest car conversation about dating, boundaries, and choosing myself — especially after years of giving energy to situations that showed no real action. I’m learning to trust what I see, not what I’m told, and to stand firm in what I deserve, even if that means walking away and being alone. This weekend wasn’t flashy, but it was grounding.
