Welcome to the first part of my short series documenting a day of sightseeing along the beautiful East Coast of Yorkshire! 🚗💨 In this video, we set off from the holiday park and drive to the charming village of Speeton. Our first stop is the fascinating St. Leonard's Church. A Little History on St. Leonard's Church, Speeton: The church is Grade I listed and one of the most historically significant structures in the area. Its origins are generally agreed to be Norman, dating back to the 12th century, though some sources suggest it may sit on the site of an even earlier Saxon building. The church is famous for its simple, rugged architecture and its beautiful 12th-century chancel arch, which survived the restoration work carried out in the Victorian era. It truly is a serene and atmospheric place to explore! After exploring the church, I take a short walk to the clifftop to enjoy the breathtaking views over the coast. Introducing Filey Bay: Filey Bay is a large, sweeping crescent of sand that stretches for several miles between the chalk cliffs of Speeton/Bempton (to the south) and the rocky outcrop of Filey Brigg (to the north). Known for its vast, unspoiled beach and excellent coastal wildlife, the bay is a site of geological interest, particularly along Filey Brigg. It's a truly spectacular sight from the cliff edge!
