It was good to see and hear Ben picking again. He just bought this beautiful 000 D18, so hopefully that will motivate him to pick more often. Below are links to older videos featuring him. Acorns who have followed the blog since the early days might remember that back then, he was referred to as "Guitar Man." :-) In the video, I never mentioned that a Scottish musician, Thomas Oliphant wrote the English lyrics to this song around 1862. I believe the famous "fa la, la, la, la" line was present in the original Welsh tune. Some historians believe that the melody itself goes back way farther than the Welsh song, all the way back to ancient times.
