Whatever your political views, I hope we could all agree that Queen Elizabeth II is the most remarkable woman. She has been Head of State and the Commonwealth for six years longer than I have lived, and she is the only living person on the planet to have known fourteen US Presidents. I have always loved the music that accompanies Royal British ‘Pomp and Ceremony’, so to add to the celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, I tasked myself with writing a ‘Jubilee March’, a little in the vein of Elgar and Walton (and Whitlock: do visit Jerry Martin’s recording of Whitlock’s wonderful “Dignity and Impudence” as my 'Jubilee March' is somewhat feeble in comparison! • Whitlock: "Dignity and Impudence" | arr. M... ). Of course, I do not possess the genius of those great composers . . . but I did enjoy crafting this homage to such grandeur associated with the nation’s royal heritage! I hope you enjoy the piece I have created and the video footage I have added in this recording in my tribute to the Queen’s 96 years, and 70 of them as a monarch committed to service and duty and grace. I could think of no better instrument on which to record my ‘Jubilee March’ than the glorious Lavender Audio sample set of the magnificent Father Willis Organ in Hereford Cathedral. With its Tuba fanfare flourishes, I wanted to dedicate the work to someone who shares the same passion for that particular organ stop as me, so I was delighted when Australia’s favourite Internet organist agreed to be the dedicatee once again to another of my composition attempts.
