This is the seventh time I’m sharing Graham Twist’s Idyll on my channel. Why? Because it holds a special place in my heart as an organist. It’s a timeless masterpiece! And it’s a perfect reflection of my journey as an organist who picked up the instrument again in 2021 after a 25-year hiatus. I woke up around 2 am and instead of going back to sleep, my brain had this crazy idea of playing this piece. I couldn’t resist, so I gave it a try. So, in my midnight sanctuary, I became a gardener of sound, planting seeds of harmony in the fertile soil of silence. The congregation of tones, held in the embrace of the night, transformed solitude into a celebration—an intimate dialogue between the heavens and the earth. This recording features Sample Set Rotterdam (Marcussen organ Laurenskerk) and has a gentle, comforting tempo. I hope you enjoy it!
