Phyrework (previously known as Pyramyd) is a seven piece Funk/Rock/Jazz band from Dallas, TX that performed from 1976 to 1987. Similar to Tower of Power and Earth, Wind, and Fire, Mercury Records released their self-titled LP produced by Michael Cooper of Con Funk Shun in 1978, and the group subsequently toured and opened concerts for Gino Vanelli, Average White Band, The Barkays, Herbie Hancock, and many others. They self-released a 4 song EP in 1981, produced by Patrick Henderson, and the band continued a long run as one of two house bands at a famous dance club in Dallas, Popsicle Toes. The group broke up in 1987 and the members of Phyrework included lead singer - Clarence Pitts, guitarist - Willie Smith, bassist - Gerald Calhoun, keyboardist - Frank Hames, trumpeter - Jim Foster, saxophonist - Bill Eden, and drummer - John Bryant. The excelent "Plain To See" is one of eleven unreleased recordings recorded in between 1979 and 1981. Courtesy of Phil from Boogie Times in France these recordings finaly saw the light of day in 2011 on a limited CD.. Some of these recordings appear on YouTube for the very first time. Enjoy!
