Beyond the Horizon Short Paper Reimagining the Academic Librarian Role at Cardiff Metropolitan University Marie Lancaster, Assistant Head Librarian - Academic Services and and Aimee Jones, Head of Academic Services, Cardiff Metropolitan University Abstract Cardiff Met Library Service decided to take a new approach to the Academic Librarian role in 2023, this was due to a number of factors: ● Not having enough Academic librarians to cover all schools with parity. ● Bottle necks for certain aspects of work. ● Enhance the Teaching & Learning offer to ensure we were following pedagogical developments to contribute to the student lifecycle. This short talk will give the context as to why the change was needed, how we approached it, barriers to overcome, and finally our initial findings into the change. Given the challenges faced by HE at present, this could help others to reimagine their services in a different way for the future.
