The Following Video is a continuation of my series on Classical German Philosophy and German Idealism with Dr. J. Colin McQuilan from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas, U.S.A. Colin McQuillan navigates us through a detailed Presentation on the Life and Philosophy of the German Philosopher Immanuel Kant. We begin by discussing: Why is Kant Important? Following this very brief introduction to why Kant is important to the history of philosophy, Dr. McQuillan outlines Kant's life by giving us a detailed biographical analysis of his life and outlining the main events, and debates that surrounded Kant's very complex life. Who were Kant's philosophical influences? What was the Copernican Revolution? What was Kant's overall project in Critical philosophy? How do the Three Critiques differ from each other? Dr. McQuillan has taught at St. Mary’s University since 2012. His research concerns the history of modern European philosophy, especially the history of aesthetics and the critical philosophy of Immanuel Kant. He is the author or editor of five books as well as numerous articles and reviews. In 2018-2019, Dr. McQuillan was a visiting scholar at the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
