PHOENIX, Ariz., Mar. 12, 2026 (KNN) – According to initial unconfirmed information gathered at the scene, Phoenix police and Phoenix fire crews responded to reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision near 17th Avenue and Tonto Street on Tuesday night. Upon arrival, crews located an unidentified pedestrian pinned underneath a vehicle in the driveway of an apartment complex. Additional fire department resources responded to the scene to assist with extricating the trapped patient. The victim was quickly extracted and transported to a local trauma center with critical injuries. Phoenix police established a scene around the vehicle and notified detectives with the Vehicular Crimes Unit. The Vehicular Crimes Unit responded to the scene and assumed command of the collision investigation. Officers were seen administering a series of field sobriety tests to the driver of the involved vehicle.
