Panel 1 featured a proud Aboriginal family from Logan – Yuggera Elder, Faye Carr, Faye's daughter, Samantha Carr and Samantha's Son, Jemarah Carr Smith, who shared their journey to establish a cultural Aboriginal centre in the region. Their story highlighted the strength of intergenerational leadership and the importance of creating spaces for cultural connection and learning. On 8 July, MRAEL attended the NAIDOC 2025 celebration hosted by Logan City Council. This year marks 50 years of recognising and uplifting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, cultures and resilience. The event was held at the iconic Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct, a space that reflects the spirit of community, history and cultural pride. It was the perfect setting for a day dedicated to honouring legacy and empowering future generations. The 2025 theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy”, encourages us to reflect on the achievements of the past, celebrate the present and look ahead to a future shaped by strong young leaders and community-led vision.
