The Forcella di Lavardet is a border pass between the Italian provinces of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Veneto. The pass is 1542 metres high and can be approached from 3 directions via the SS465, SP465 and SP619 roads. The SS465 road starts in the village of Comeglians and leads to the pass via the villages of Avausa, Prato Carnico and Pesariis after about 23 kilometres on a well-maintained and fully asphalted road. The SP619 road starts in the municipality of Laggio di Cadore and also leads to the pass after about 20 km on a well-maintained and fully tarmac road. However, the SP465 road is particularly special. The maintenance and upkeep of this stretch of road was abandoned years ago, meaning that its condition deteriorated over time. In the end, the road was closed to public traffic for liability reasons. Nevertheless, the road was and still is an attraction for motorbike travellers, as there is a spectacular group of hairpin bends with a total of 14 quite narrow and steep bends about halfway along the route. The road starts in the village of Compolongo on the SR355 to the east of Santo Stefano di Cadore and leads up to the pass after around 10 kilometres. However, the road, which begins as a tarmac country road, becomes a gravel road after just 2 km. Only the impressive group of hairpin bends reached after a further 2 kilometres is again paved with a fairly good asphalt surface. The gravel road is quite rough and washed out in parts and should only be travelled on with appropriately equipped vehicles. Due to heavy rainfall, there was a landslide in 2018, which made part of the route completely impassable. However, most of the damage has since been repaired and the road has been unofficially open to traffic again since 2022. The road is located in the Italian province of Belluno in the Veneto region. ▬ Content ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 00:00 Intro 00:15 Prolog 01:17 The Ride 17:16 And the Mavic spoke... 21:18 Outro ▬ Links ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Playlist Italy: • Italy / Italien Playlist Passes: • Passes / Pässe WalkTheMavic: / @walkthemavic4197 ▬ About this channel ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Walk The Mavic (WTM) - Interesting roads, passes and gorges in the Alps - Nature and landscapes - Castles, forts, fortresses and fortifications - Photos and videos, if possible and allowed, also aerial photos/videos with the drone.
