By Alvin Tiri Makunike The Life and Times of Tete Grace Nhamarare The Makunike family, relatives, and friends mourn the passing of our beloved Tete Grace Chaka Nhamarare (née Makunike), who was called to glory on the 5th of March, 2025. Born on 4 August 1942, Tete Grace was the daughter of the late Baba Samuel Makunike and Mbuya Gladys (née Masara). Baba Samuel was the brother of Baba Noah. Tete Grace’s siblings are Baba Adam, Baba Masango Henry, Tete Zabhe, the late Sarah (Mai Mutizhe), the late Mary (Mai Bvunzawabaya), and the late Arthur. The recent passing of our dear Tete has left a palpable void in the Makunike family, one that is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we gather to reflect on her life, we are reminded of the love, wisdom, joy, and laughter she brought into our lives. Tete Grace Chaka Nhamarare (née Makunike) was not just a family member; she was a cornerstone of our family’s history and the author of our family song, Isu Semhuri. She was known for her warm smile and a spirit that could light up any room with her enduring jokes. Her kindness extended beyond family, as she formed lasting friendships in her community. Family gatherings were never complete without her presence and the whistle around her neck. In her later years, she faced health challenges, but her resilience and positive outlook were nothing short of inspiring. She often reminded us to find joy in the little things and cherish every moment. Her strength in adversity taught us valuable lessons about love, perseverance, and the fear of God. As we say our final goodbyes, we take solace in the memories we created, the lessons she imparted, and the love that will forever bind us as the Makunike family. Giga may be gone, but her spirit and the legacy of her life will live on in our hearts. In honoring her memory, let us carry forward her values of compassion and unity, singing the Makunike family song at all gatherings to ensure that her light continues to shine through us all. Rest in peace, Province/Giga. You will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Giga leaves behind her loving husband and friend, Onias, and five children: Memory, Angeline Gladys (Mai Kapumha), Tarisai Phillipa (Mai Mhlanga), Nyorowayi Virginia (Rev Kanengeya), and her son, Chido. She had 13 grandchildren. Tete Nhamarare will be laid to rest at her home village of Danhama, Tsonzo, in Mutasa District this coming Saturday. Her funeral will be streamed live on The Makunike Family facebook page, stay connected. ISU SEMHURI TINOTENDA NEBASA GURU RAMAKAIITA Makunike Family Communications
