(16 May 1995) T/I: 10:46:50 The U.N. Tribunal for former Yugoslavia on Tuesday (16/5) asked the Bosnian government to let it take over the pursuit of war crimes allegations against Bosnian Serb leader, Radovan Karadzic. Authorities of the Muslim-led government had been investigating Karadzic, Bosnian Serb army commander Ratko Mladic and Mico Stanisic, ex-political boss of the Bosnian Serb police force, for alleged atrocities during Bosnia's continuing civil war. They will allow the U.N. court to handle any criminal prosecutions and will hand over whatever evidence they have accumulated. The three Bosnian Serbs are expected, by the year's end, to be indicted on charges of genocide and other war crimes.
