Trick or treat? No Artemis III or Starship schedule candy in the Halloween bag

The biggest thing missing from the NASA Artemis lunar landing discussions over the past two weeks is the schedule. Artemis III was mid-2027, and officially still is; however, NASA said almost two weeks ago now that Starship HLS is behind schedule, without saying how far behind schedule. Two weeks later, we still don't know what the new Artemis III date is or how far behind Starship is. NASA is asking the current HLS providers how to speed things up and will ask for other ideas soon, but how late Starship and Artemis III are right now makes a big difference in deciding whether or not building another lunar lander is necessary. There was more talk this week about whether more lunar lander projects are a good idea or not, but everyone skipped over the "Why are we doing this?" part. Even SpaceX isn't saying if Starship is just a little late for mid-2027 or not...what are we to make of the silence from just about everyone? While there was a lot of changing the subject away from the Artemis III schedule, there was also the suggestion that the ongoing government shutdown may change the Artemis II schedule.
