Report on Key Informative Interviews Conducted by PDMA Balochistan in Collaboration with UNESCO Country Office Pakistan for Dissemination of Flood Early Warning Mechanisms at Community Level; On the directions of the Relief Commissioner and Director General, PDMA Balochistan, the Deputy Director PDMA Balochistan, Mr. Asghar Ali Jamali, along with a team from the UNESCO Country Office Pakistan, visited Union Council Hanna Urak to conduct key informative interviews with community leaders. The interviews were held at the Union Council Hanna Urak, IDSP University Quetta. During the visit, the team engaged community leaders and IDSP students in detailed discussions and asked various questions regarding the dissemination of the Flood Early Warning System at the community level and the role of PDMA Balochistan in flood early warning dissemination. The community leaders and students shared their experiences and stated that during the floods of 2022, PDMA Balochistan not only provided timely and real-time flood early warning information but also responded effectively, which helped save many lives in the Hanna Urak area. They expressed their appreciation for the proactive role played by PDMA Balochistan in managing the flood situation. Furthermore, the community members expressed their gratitude to the leadership of PDMA Balochistan, particularly the Director General PDMA Balochistan and Deputy Director Mr. Asghar Ali Jamali, for organizing and conducting mock drills and Emergency Response Team (ERT) training programs for the community of Hanna Urak. Through these initiatives, more than 45 community members were trained in disaster preparedness and first aid response, which enabled the community to respond promptly during emergencies and protect lives and property. At the conclusion of the visit, the Deputy Director PDMA Balochistan, Mr. Asghar Ali Jamali, assured the community leaders and members of his full support and reaffirmed PDMA Balochistan’s commitment to continued assistance and collaboration with the community in the near future.
