Mt. Frissell's South Slope, Connecticut's highpoint, is different than all the other state highpoints. (I'm aware I probably mispronounced the name of the mountain throughout the episode.) It isn't located on the top of a hill or mountain but on the side of one. The big question then is how did this come to be. That answer to that starts almost at the beginning of Connecticut organization as an English colony and unfolds over the next two hundred fifty years, involving border disputes, tense negotiations with the English crown, erroneous encyclopedia entries, and one man's quest to find the truth of his home state. If you decide to pursue this highpoint you'll find it tucked away in the very northwest corner of the state in the beautiful Taconic Mountains. Reaching this odd location involves a short but strenuous day trip Along the way you'll go up two mountains and get some amazing views of the surrounding area.
