Come along with Diesel and I as we spend the day chasing the N&W Class J #611 Spring Excursion - THE BLUE RIDGE SPECIAL Train was scheduled to make it's way westbound on the Norfolk Southern Piedmont Division, Asheville District S Line from the North Carolina Transportation Museum at 7am and arrive in Asheville NC by 1230pm. On approach to Old Fort NC, just east of the depot, it stopped for a brief time for a crew change. As you can see from the video, there was a great turn out! This was due in part to an article that ran in the www.mcdowellnews.com website, as you can see, railfans and townspeople galore turned out for this event. I will post a link to the article below. Once 611 cleared Old Fort, we made our way threw the throngs of people that visited Andrew's Geyser and ended up at near the exit of the Swannanoa Gap Tunnel at RIDGECREST and captured it just west of the tunnel exit.
