In this video, I address the current anxiety surrounding AI and art, challenging the generalization that coders are to blame for the disruption in the creative world. I argue that artists and coders are natural allies who should unite, as both engineer within their respective mediums. We discuss the difference between "value-destroying" generative slop versus AI tools that optimize expensive workflows, such as 3D light refraction. Finally, I make a case for why artists should learn to code—not to replace their art, but to build worlds, understand the systems around them, and regain control over their creative tools.
