War and Genocide in Sudan: A Conversation with Rania Aziz

In this segment, our co-producer Jeffrey Smith speaks to Sudanese activist Rania Aziz, a grassroots organizer who has been at the forefront of the country’s transformative landscape for years. Since April 2023, citizens have been caught in the middle of a vicious war with no end in sight, the result of which is the largest internal displacement crisis in the world. In total, over 8 million people have been internally displaced, tens of thousands have been killed and 30 million more – most of them children – are in need of humanitarian aid. Rania shares with us what factors led to Sudan reaching this point and potential ways in which to end the human suffering.
