What if the God of the universe wanted to live—not just near you—but in you? In this message, “God’s Dwelling Place,” Pastor Bryan unpacks the powerful truth that God doesn’t just visit buildings—He fills people. From the Tabernacle to the Temple to Jesus Himself, Scripture tells a story of God’s desire to be close to us. And now, through the Holy Spirit, He makes His home in us. Whether you feel worthy or not, the invitation is open. You were made to carry His presence. Don’t miss this warm, hopeful reminder that you are God’s chosen dwelling place. __ Welcome to Brookwood Church! We are a church family who believe that Jesus is at the center of everything. You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” —1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NIV) This isn’t just poetic language or religious symbolism. This is a holy, stunning reality: God’s Spirit—the same Spirit who hovered over the waters at creation, who led Israel through the wilderness, who filled the Temple with glory—now dwells in you. From the first pages of Scripture, God has been revealing His desire to dwell with His people. In the Garden, He walked with Adam and Eve. In the wilderness, He traveled with Israel in a cloud of glory, filling the Tabernacle with His presence. Later, His glory filled the Temple in Jerusalem, so tangible that priests couldn’t even stand in it. But even then, access to God was limited. The average person couldn’t draw near. Only a high priest, once a year, could enter the Most Holy Place. And then everything changed. “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.” —John 1:14 (NIV) Jesus came, not as another distant representative of God, but as the very presence of God in human form. He didn’t just point people toward God—He brought God near. And after His death and resurrection, He gave His followers the greatest gift of all: the indwelling Holy Spirit. This is the miracle: the glory that once filled the Temple now fills you. You are the new dwelling place of God. Not because of anything you’ve earned, but because of the grace of Jesus and the Spirit He freely gives. Let that sink in: God wants to dwell not just among His people, but within them. Within you. You may not feel qualified. You may struggle with sin or shame, distraction or doubt. But God doesn’t ask for perfection—He asks for availability. He invites you to live with Him at the center of everything. That’s what holiness is: not performance, but presence. A life centered around Him. So what does it mean to be God’s dwelling place? It means cultivating friendship with the Holy Spirit—learning to recognize His voice, inviting Him into your day, and walking closely with Him. It means pursuing holiness—not to earn His love, but because you already have it. Holiness clears space for His presence to move freely in and through you. And it means remembering that this invitation is for everyone. The Spirit of God doesn’t just want to rest on a select few. He’s eager to dwell in every heart that makes room for Him. Today, ask yourself: Am I making space for the Spirit of God to dwell in me? Not just occasionally, but daily? Because you—yes, you—are God’s chosen dwelling place. And that changes everything.
