Entry #11 This is a full Playthrough of the Pal Version of the first Mega Man game on the NES. The Pal version stayed almost unaltered from the NTSC version. The music playes slower but the pitch got slightly altered. The gameplay is also slower just like Mega Man 2. The original Mega Man is often overshadowed by its successors, especially Mega Man 2. It is a humble beginning for a beloved franchise. The game has an immense amount of bugs and glitches, and is without a doubt the most broken game in the series. Controlling Mega Man feels a bit odd if you are familiar with the other games. Capcom also couldn't figure out how grafity works. If you fall of a moving platform or the Magnet Beam (only appears in this game and is used to create a line in the air that Mega Man can walk on) you will deop instantly down which can lead to some very cheap deaths. Mega Man's strongest weapon in the game is the select button. Pressing it will pause the game. The programmers forgot to pause the invincibility timer of enemies and robot masters while in this state. If you hit an enemy with your weapon and pause the game at the moment the weapon and enemy will collide, just wait until the flashing stops, then unpause and pause again and continue until they are defeated. With the use of this bug you can kill every boss with one hit (when timed right) and completly break the game. There is also an easy method of defeating Elecman with only the blaster. In order to do so you will have to jump on the ladder to his lair from the right side. This causes the game to face you towards him when you enter the fight. Elecman will come closer towards you in an attempt to shoot. Then you will have to shoot Elecman right before he shoots you. This will lock him up in an AI loop. Then just repeat this until the fight is over. This technique is not easy because you have to line up every shot accurately. The Magnet Beam is located in Elecman's stage and Gutsman's weapon is required to obtain it. But with the help of a wall warping glitch it is possible to obtain this weapon from the start of the game. This glitch is really hard to pull of and there is a risk of softlocking the game when done wrong. Position yourself on the right most ladder in the room where the Magnet Beam is located. Then press Down and B on the controller on the exact frame while standing on this ladder. Mega Man needs to fire to the left for this glitch to work while sort of hanging in the air. Then you will have to press UP and Mega Man will warp to the left side of the screen. If this happens jump and at the peak of the jump press Right. Mega Man should warp to the right side of the screen near the Magnet Beam. Now comes another tricky part. You will have face Mega Man into the direction of the Magnet Beam. This can be tricky and will take a few tries. The you need to gently tap Left until you collect the item. Don't go too far because you can get stuck in this tiny room forcing you to reset the game. When done right just press A and Mega Man will warp back to the bottom left corner of the screen. The you can press left and right a few times in order to get out of the glitched state. The Magnet Beam is required to beat the game so remember to pick it up with the help of Gutsman's weapon or this glitch. If you miss it the first time around you can thankfully re-enter the stage. Mega Man can be a broken mess of a game but it also has its charm. Some people say it is the hardes Mega Man game on the Nes. With the help of the glitches from above you can make it a lot easier. Although not intended you can play by your own rules and make the game as difficult as you like. It is also a very technical game with alot of hidden techniques. This makes the game very appealing for me. Although it is not my favourite Mega Man game on the NES it still holds up strong for me because of its simplicity, the memorable soundtrack and the sometimes challenging gameplay. I died three times during this playthough. Two deaths were really cheap because of these stupid flying platforms that shoot at you. Their hitbox is really messed up. The third death was entirely my fault because I was playing very poorly aganist the third boss of Wily's Castle. The Game was played on an original European NES Model. I used the original controllers. The Gameplay was recorded with an HDMI capture card using OBS. The composite signal of the NES got converted to an HDMI signal with the help of an ADC. There appears to be a problem with the framrate at some points, it must be the converter. I hope you enjoy the video, thanks for watching!
